According to historians somewhere between 800 - 600 BC 'Rigveda Period' the population count used to be taken, which was actually started in 1872, while total complete census was taken in year 1881. Today we will discuss the complete Census of 2011.

The British general were disciplined officials who used to keep data of every work so the British Viceroy General Lord Mayo started collecting data of Indians in form of Census for knowing actually linguistic, geographical, and human geography no. Of Indian Population for their own benefit.

Facts about Census of 2011:-


India's Census is taken through the Census Act of 1948. 2011 was the 15th Census through 1872 and the 7th Census from Independence Period. 

It was worked into 2 phases, 1st phase from 1 May 2010 to 15 June 2010 and 2nd phase from 9 Feb 2011 to 28 Feb 2011.

Info about National Population Register (NPR) was collected in the 1st phase which would help residents of India to know the Unique Identification Authority of India which is 12 digit no. 

Census covered about 29 states, 7 UTs, 640 districts, 5924 sub-districts, 7935 towns, and more than 6 lakh villages.

Caste Census was issued to take or not also it was supported by Gopinath Munde, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sharad Yadav, and Mulayam Singh and opposed by Shivsena, BJP, Akali Dal and ADMK later it was dropped. The Census of 2011 was collected in about 16 languages.

The total cost was 2200 crore 0.5 dollars for each person. Moto was 'Our Census, Our Future'. Register General and Census Commissioner Of India was C.Chandramauli.

The total population was recorded 1.21 Billion growth of about 17.64 % compared to the 2001 census. About 121 crore population 5-6 states were who acquired about 40 - 45 % population they were Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Andra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu e.t.c.

 Looking to the Annual population growth Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar had quite a growth while decadal growth was Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

The transgender population was 1st time calculated in the history of the Census, which recorded about 4.9 lakh of population highest in Metro cities.

The density is 382 persons sq km. No.1 State was West Bengal with 1106 density and the lowest was Arunachal Pradesh with 17 density. 

While taking district into consideration North East of Delhi tops while Diband Valley of Arunachal Pradesh is lowest. The highest density of any state or UT is Delhi i.e 11,297 km / sq.

The sex ratio of India is 940 highest of Kerala 1084 while the 2nd is Puducherry is 1037 and the lowest is Daman and Diu (618)  Haryana (879), Himachal Pradesh (890).

 The child sex ratio is 914 were Mizoram stands 1st  with 971, 2nd is Meghayala with 970, and the lowest is Haryana(830) and Punjab (846).

Literacy of India is 74 % according to the Census of 2011 where the male has 82 % and the female has 66 %. Jain tops the religion literacy standing 2nd and 3rd are Christian and Buddhist respectively.

The reason for such a huge population because the fertility rate is 2.3 % for 2011. There were total of 550 tribes recorded which constitute 8.2 % of the population with Madhya Pradesh ranking highest with 1.5 Million and then Maharashtra with 1 Million.

In the case of Urbanized states Goa stands no.1 then Mizoram and then 3rd in Tamil Nadu the lowest are Himachal then Bihar and Assam. 

The slum population is 6.5 Million all India were Maharashtra ranks no.1, 2nd is Andra Pradesh and 3rd in Tamil Nadu, lowest is Arunachal Pradesh and 2nd lowest is Goa.

About 36 % of people living in India are adolescents, 56 % are Adult and 7 % are Old.

Languages:-


About 73 % of people speak here the Aryan language and 20 % speak the Dravidian language. Hindi is a top language understood by about 57 % while 43 % speak Hindi daily. After Hindi, it is Bengali - 8.3 % and then Marathi - 7.1 % who speak it daily. Tamil and Telugu also have a huge no of speakers.
